January 2004
A lot of work has been done, and the ruin has been converted to a nice
cottage and is almost ready for occupancy. Here are a couple of interior views:

The workers are upset that we call it "A Ruina" (the ruin), so we have
decided that it's official name shall be one honouring Bill's 95-year-old mother
who when asked to make plans for the future always replies "I don't buy green
bananas" - thus it is "A Casa das Bananas Verdes", the house of the green
bananas. We hope that she will come to Portugal to celebrate her 96th
birthday in it.
There are paths and a driveway to the cottage, and even a vehicle to park
next to it! Note the security guard patrolling the driveway.

The
swimming pool is mighty inviting, but we will have to wait a bit to use it, even
the Algarve gets a bit chilly in January!
