The Indian GoddessesTo our great surprise we had four unwanted yet charming guests, four goddesses from India. The antique dealer from whom we bought much of our furniture wanted us to buy them, but we refused. So he sent them down anyway with a recent shipment of armoires, and said that if we didn't want them, he would come down and take them back. We probably won't keep them, but it is kind of nice having them around. Here are a couple of them in the living room. The largest, clearly the oldest, likes to watch the people passing in front of the house, while the second goddess likes to be useful (and is perhaps a bit greedy), so she looks after the ticket window for the dance hall. This is the godess of the guest room, welcoming all who come: and this the scholarly godess who guards our books: |
